BOYS GOLF HEADED TO STATE!
The Bearcat Golf team qualified for the State tournament on Thursday at The Rawls course in Lubbock. The team of Steven Shurtz, Matt James, Parker Scaling, Andrew Lane, and Sam Shryoc finished in Third place, and came from behind to pass three teams during the final round. They will now play in the State Tournament at Wolfdancer in Bastrop April 27-28. This is the first time since 2008 that the Girls’ and Boys’ Golf teams have qualified for the State Tournament in the same year. Congratulations and Good Luck!

COLORGUARD RANKS HIGH IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Colorguard competed two days and successfully advanced to the final round of competition at the 2015 WGI Colorguard World Championships.  The event was held in Dayton, Ohio this past weekend.  In the final tally, Aledo Colorguard was ranked 14th our of 122 colorguards.  Congratulation on an awesome season of awards.  We are very proud of your accomplishments.  Our hats are off to Junior Marquez for his dedication and hard work.



LADYCAT GOLF HEADED TO STATE!
 
The Ladycat Golf Team won the Region I Golf tournament yesterday at The Rawls course in Lubbock. Cheyenne Knight, Mary Katherine Ingram, Taylor Brookshire, Quincy Ballard and Elizabeth Boll dominated the field winning by 65 shots. Cheyenne Knight won the individual Championship shooting 68 in the final round. Mary Katherine Ingram finished 3rd, Taylor Brookshire 4th, and Quincy Ballard was 5th. They all made the All Region Team. Next stop for the Ladycats is the State Championship played at Wolfdancer in Bastrop on April 27-28! Good luck!!

2015 DISTRICT 8-5A ACADEMIC CHAMPIONS

Of the 23 events that make up the District UIL meet, Aledo students placed in 19 (including CX Debate, which held its district contest in January), and advanced to the next level of competition in 18. First-place teams and students who placed 3rd or higher individually will compete at the Regional Academic Meet in Lubbock on April 24-25. Here are the overall results.

COLORGUARD BRINGS HOME THE GOLD!
The Varsity Colorguard brought home the Gold medal from the NTCA championships on April 11. The team competed with other guards across North Texas, and had the highest score of 88.21. They next compete at the WGI World Championships held in Dayton, Ohio on April 16-17. Good luck, ladies!

UIL ONE ACT PLAY MOVING ON TO AREA
The cast and crew of “Sweet Nothing in My Ear,” advanced from Bi-District to Area. At the Bi-District Competition they received several honors including:
Best Technical Crew
All Star Technician: Noah Murphey
All Star Cast: Madelyn Robertson, Sam Stephens, and Abby Dean
Best Actor: Parker Warren
Come support these students at the Area One Act Play contest. They compete Saturday at 2:00 at Central High School in Keller.
 
Get there early, doors close when performance begins.
 
HORSE JUDGING TEAM IS GOING TO STATE!

Aledo FFA's Horse Judging team qualified for State for the second year in a row! The team of Kaci Holloway, Bailey Kilman, Cassady West and Molly Spitler have had a fantastic year, and earned this by beating out 71 teams from the area to earn their spot at the State Competition in Lubbock. Congratulations, ladies!

TENNIS HEADS TO REGIONALS
Varsity Tennis will be sending seven team members to Regional Competition after an outstanding performance at the District 8-5A Tournament April 6 –7. The team had a total of 11 players advance to the second day of the District tournament. Those advancing to Regionals are: Nikki Adamie – 1st Girls Singles, John Michael Barron/Hayden Posey – 1st Boys Doubles, Elizabeth Larson/Noah Shibley – 1st Mixed Doubles, and Mallory Clay/Sarah Goolsby – 2nd Girls Doubles. Caitlyn Andrew finished 3rd in Girls Singles, Sarah Hadley Duncan/Ridge Stringer finished 3rd in Mixed Doubles, and Alec Meendsen finished 4th in Boys Singles. The Region I-5A tournament is in Lubbock on April 20-21.

DISTRICT 8-5A GOLF CHAMPIONS TIMES TWO!!
The Aledo Ladycats and Bearcats won District Championships yesterday at Squaw Valley in Glen Rose. Cheyenne Knight was the girls' individual District Champion with scores of 63 and 65. Mary Katherine Ingram finished in third. The girls' champions also include Taylor Brookshire, Quincy Ballard and Elizabeth Boll. The boys' champions include Steven Shurtz, Matt James, Andrew Lane, Parker Scaling and Sam Shryoc. Sam placed third individually with scores of 72 and 69. Both teams will play in the Regional Tournament next week in Lubbock. Congrats and Good Luck!
